Bold & Citrusy
Seductive & Smooth
Kopi Luwak is known among connoisseurs as the most expensive coffee in the world. This almost legendary coffee earns that title thanks to its truly unique origins, which most famously involve being partially digested by wild palm civet cats. Yet, many discerning coffee drinkers are disappointed when they taste Kopi Luwak – the result of inferior and even fake products flooding the market. At Difference Coffee, we promise an unrivaled cup with our specialty grade Wild Kopi Luwak, which meets the highest of standards set by the Specialty Coffee Association. It's delicate, complex and delicious.
Another source of displeasure concerning second-rate Kopi Luwak is the unethical practices of coffee-makers who keep civets in cages. This is not only cruel, it also diminishes the quality of the coffee. Difference Coffee's Wild Kopi Luwak comes from Gayo Estate, the only certified Wild Luwak Estate in Indonesia. Rest assured it's ethically and sustainably sourced, as well as a truly outstanding coffee made the way nature intended.

Kopi Luwak derives its name from the Indonesian palm civet cat, the creatures responsible for the coffee’s remarkable flavour and aroma, along with its total absence of bitterness. This coffee is often described as delicate yet full-bodied, reminiscent of dark cocoa and caramel, with hints of its tropical forest roots.
At Gayo Estate in Indonesia, the exclusive source of Difference Coffee’s Wild Kopi Luwak, wild civet cats roam freely through the coffee plantation. They feast without interference, naturally selecting the ripest, plumpest coffee berries to eat as part of a varied natural diet. So begins a unique process by which the coffee berries become de-pulped, fermented and transformed by enzymes into coffee beans of unrivalled quality.
The next stages of Kopi Luwak’s progression from plant to cat to cup are handled by Gayo Estate’s experts. They gather the civet droppings and rigorously wash and sort the Wild Kopi Luwak beans for quality, all according to the strict standards laid out by the Specialty Coffee Association. Only then are these rare coffee beans ready for roasting, enjoying and celebrating as one of the most astonishing cups of coffee you’ll ever taste.
