I founded Difference Coffee Co. in order to bring Speciality Coffee, a term which applies to only 1% of the world’s coffee to a very discerning consumer.
All our beans are rated using a 100 point grading system, created by the Speciality Coffee Association. This ensures that our Coffees undertake a process of rigorous selection completed through a series of aspect grading and cupping tests of numerous coffee samples from multiple estates per region. Our coffees are all, therefore, of Speciality grade.
Difference Coffee Co. sources from the most prestigious and most rigorous coffee competitions, including: Cup of Excellence, Best of Panama and the annual Kona Cupping Competition. To illustrate the level of scrutiny, a Cup of Excellence competition, with 300 entries, will consist of six rounds of evaluation by both national and international juries, with a total of 9,020 cups having been analysed before the top 10 winners are announced. Remarkably, the 10 finalists would have been cupped no fewer than 280 times.
We always use 100% Arabica Speciality Coffee – the highest grade of bean – small batch roasted by our Q Grader, Jonny England, who is an authorised trainer in the science of roasting for the Specialty Coffee Association. In addition, Jonny is an acting Head Judge for both World Barista Championship and World Brewers Cup.
For the convenience of the home user, we package Coffees in capsules compatible with the Nespresso* system. These retain coffee freshness and ensure a perfectly balanced extraction – consistency of flavour at the touch of a button. We will soon be launching our collection packaged in single serve oxygen-free sachets, filled with coffee with a Cafetiere or Filter Grind.
For Hotels and restaurants, Difference Coffee Co. can also supply whole roasted beans, and has already become the choice of London’s most exclusive establishments, including The Four Seasons Hotel, Harry’s Bar, The Arts Club, Sumosan and The Wellesley Hotel, to name a few.
